Our Products
OUR COMMITMENT to our customers:
We commit to growing high quality Organic crops. Our commitment also includes:
- All crops are grown under pivot irrigation. We utilize Zimmatic FieldNet software, which allows us to have precision control over application rates and quickly assess any necessary repairs of irrigation equipment. This allows for improved watering accuracy, efficiency and less field interruption.
- All crops and fields are monitored daily and weekly to monitor crop health and irrigation needs. Using integrative pest and disease management, remote satellite imagery and improved irrigation accuracy allows us to meet our customer’s product specifications.
- Extensive historical data collection over the past 8 years allows Silver Reef to reflect on current and future growing seasons’ potential, harvest yield and quality, and identifies seed varieties to ensure the highest quality products.
- Proper pre-planting fertilization and soil preparation guarantees the soil and the crop is given the best opportunity to maximize bushels and tons.
- Crop rotations and sustainability initiatives are utilized to balance any potential residual pest and crop disease risks for optimal crop health.
Upon emergence, we carefully plan an extensive weeding protocol using a combination of mechanical and hand labor options. - At harvest, we use specialized equipment to decrease damage, splits and abnormalities thus delivering a more uniformed product to our customers.
Organic Barley
Our organic Barley is planted depending on consumer needs. Barley is one of our selected crop rotation opportunities as an alternative to other small grain products, such as wheat. We select, produce, and tailor our malting barley varieties so that they are ideal for craft malts and micro-breweries. Many of our artisan variety are known for their superior quality, and are balanced in terms of odor, flavor, freshness, and bitterness. We work closely with our customers to select varieties and adhere to strict growing harvesting standards which ensure a quality product for consumers.
Organic Corn Silage
We are proud to grow organic Corn Silage for the organic dairy businesses on the Colorado Front Range. We continue to tailor our seed varieties to yield tall, lush plants with large leaf canopies that have excellent tonnage and digestibility. These varieties ensure that nutritional demands are met in dairy cattle for increased milk production, reproductive health and estrus cycling.
Upon growth maturity, we work closely with our customers so that our silage is chopped at the ideal dry matter to pack as premium corn silage. We have the ability to do on-site packing with later delivery to dairies or direct ship at harvest to the dairy for their own storage purposes.
Organic Hemp
We produce a wide variety of industrial grade hemp with type dependent on buyer specifications. We have experience growing
- male/female industrial hemp for the building material, textile industries, and seed production industries
- feminized seed hemp for the high CBD
- clones for the high CBD specialty markets
We work closely with our buyers to prepare fields, plant, cultivate and harvest the hemp per a detailed Grow Plan. This Grow Plan ensures a high-quality organic hemp biomass product that can be used for a wide variety of products including salves, lotions, tinctures, rope, textiles, and paper.
Organic Edible Dry Beans
We have experience growing Pinto, Black, Great Northern, and White Kidney Beans but are always looking for new opportunities to grow other varieties of organic dry beans. Each dry bean variety is carefully selected and planted into seed beds at the optimal soil temperatures. Throughout the growing season, careful attention is taken for weed control and irrigation needs at critical reproductive stages. Most of our products are shipped to a processing facility immediately at harvest, where it will be cleaned and sold as dry product or further processed into canned goods.
Organic Grain Corn
We produce organic grain corn and sell primarily to organic poultry and organic livestock producers as a whole grain product. We carefully select our certified organic corn seed based on its full season yield potential, seedling vigor, disease resistance and stalk strength. We analyze each varieties’ growing day units to black layer to ensure optimal performance in Colorado’s unique growing climate. At harvest, Silver Reef analyzes the grain corn dry down process and harvests at the ideal moisture. The grain corn crop can be shipped immediately at harvest to our customers or optionally, can be stored in our on-site certified organic grain bins for later delivery and/or pick-up.
Organic Winter Wheat
We currently grow irrigated Red Hard Winter Wheat. These small grains are hearty and thrive in our climate, season changes and high altitude. Over the years our Winter Wheat has always known for their high protein levels.
The Colorado winter opportunities for frost and freezing temperatures helps ensure that the Winter Wheat undergoes vernalization, a vital part of the crop’s reproductive stages. This process helps grow flourishing winter wheat crop with high test weights and high protein. We select winter wheat varieties that have ideal milling properties for the baking and wheat product industries.
At maturity, Silver Reef closely monitors crop moisture to make sure that the wheat is harvested at the optimal percentage. Weather patterns are also tracked to ensure that wheat is harvested, stored and/or shipped prior to rain events to remove the opportunity for mold or seed sprouting.

Organic Spring Wheat
Currently we grow irrigated Red Hard Spring Wheat. These small grains are hearty and thrive in our climate, season changes and high altitude. Over the years our Spring Wheat has always known for their high protein levels.
Our spring wheat also benefits from the Colorado spring snow melt and spring rainstorms. Spring wheat is planted in late February or early March when temperatures are warmer so that seed germination is successful. Then spring snows and rainstorms help to make vigorous young spring wheat crop which is then finished during the growing season with pivot irrigation.
